Top VPNs Philippines Review 2017 – PC/Android/Mac/Gaming

Hi, everybody! My name is Leon GalvezBenjie Torres and I’m a resident of Santa Mesa with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I created this site to help people understand the value of virtual private networks (VPNs) and suggest the best VPNs in Philippines.

I like to think I’m jeproks, but nothing makes me lose my mind more than finding myself unable to connect to a VPN. As anyone who’s been in this position can tell you, selecting the right network is key to a smooth experience.

When you choose a VPN, you want to be able to sit back and say, “Aaah,” breathing a sigh of relief. You don’t want to be saying, “Ano ba?” I know there are a lot of options out there for those who are looking for security and privacy, but IMO these are the most viable options.

My fellow Filipinos have probably heard that cybercrime is on the rise in our country. I decided to make this site for that very reason. We can all utilize VPNs as a means of protecting ourselves.

After my friends turned to me for advice while I was completing my courses at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, I started thinking it would be a nice idea to share my favorite VPNs with the world.

ExpressVPN is at the top of my list for VPNs in Philippines because they’re super-fast and the most reliable service in my personal experience. I’ve been using them for over a year and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

But of course, they’re not the only awesome VPN on the block. As I said before, there are a lot of VPNs to choose from, but here are some of the most reputable and user-friendly ones around.

Before we get started, I should preface this by warning readers against going with a free VPN server. The reason this is not a good idea is because user data is routed through a central hub that aggregates information. This info is then sold to 3rd parties without your approval. This is how these VPNs are able to pay for the “free” servers. If you can’t afford to pay for a VPN then you simply shouldn’t use one.

With that said, let’s jump into the best of the best VPNs in Philippines.

Avoid Free VPNS - Don't Have Your Info Sold to 3rd Parties
I would strongly recommend not utilizing free VPNS servers for some simple reasons. User data is routed through a central hub that collects and aggregates information. This information is then sold to 3rd parties. User information is commoditized and sold to pay for the “free” VPN. If you’re not looking to spend money on a VPN, I would suggest simply not using one.

1. ExpressVPN—Highly Recommended Server Backed by a Guarantee

Express VPN LogoExpress VPN has servers in South Korea, Taiwan and, yes, Philippines. You get fast connections compatible with all devices, meaning that you can hide your IP address no matter what you’re using. Yep, ganon. They have round-the-clock customer support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

With unmetered bandwidth and no logs policy, it’s one of the most beloved VPNs around. Personally, I used them for over a year with minimal problems. I only made the switch to TunnelBear after encountering some connectivity problems. But it’s worth saying that their customer service team was able to resolve my connection issue prior to my jumping ship.

With a 30-day money back guarantee, you can’t really go wrong with these guys. But that being said, I’d still recommend TunnelBear first and foremost.

Express is number one will a bullet because they’re fast, reliable, friendly and advanced. With their service, blocked and censored content will be readily available to you no matter where you are in the world. They’ve won awards for their apps too which is hardly a shock once you’ve subscribed to their service. Their 24-hour live chat support is staffed by amiable and informative people who are there to help at all times.

2. VyPr VPN—2nd Best Choice for PCs and Android

Vypr VPNVyPr VPN isn’t my go-to VPN at the moment, but they’ve served me well in the past and I can attest to the fact that they offer the best price on this list. With VyPr, you’ll get reasonably fast speeds and a user-friendly interface.

VyPr provides multi-platform, multi-protocol support and allows for P2P. There is a wealth of servers available and you get a kill switch. The only cons to this one’s many pros are the limited licenses and the lack of ad blocking. Other than that, you can’t really go wrong with this one.

VyPr is my second go-to VPN because they’ve got the best price and they are fully equipped to prevent bandwidth throttling. Their apps are easy to master and they are dedicated to their no logs policy. This means no third parties and complete security coverage.

3. PureVPN—A Solid Runner-Up

Pure VPN LogoThis Hong Kong-based paid service is one of the best VPNs I’ve tested. It gives you incredible speed and geographically desirable servers. There are some terrific add-ons as well, such as Firewall. Unlike others on this list, PureVPN allows P2P and BitTorrent.

The drawback to this one is the tedium of trying to get online. They also have less servers than other VPNs and it is only available in English, French, German and Turkish. If you’re like me and you’re fluent in English, you should be alright, but don’t count on this one for Tagalog or anything.

If it’s flash you’re after, it’s flash you’ll get with Pure VPN. They have more advanced features than any other VPN available and all of them work like a charm. You get app filtering, URL filtering, anti-malware, intrusion detection and prevention, and ad-blocking included in your plan. A solid choice for the serious VPN user.

4. Hide My Ass—Least Recommended VPN

Now don’t get me wrong, HideMyAss isn’t total garbage. It certainly has its pros; it’s easy to set up in Philippines with strong data encryption, but only 2 simultaneous connections are permitted and their customer support sucks.

Despite its high profile, HideMyAss users have reported that the service keeps logs of all user sessions. Not exactly what most of us are looking for in anonymity software. They also disengage your service without warning.

Accounts are also automatically canceled when users attempt to download BitTorrent. The only thing to really recommend this one is the wide availability in a number of countries, but that hardly matters when one considers how much slower they are than their competitors. Avoid this one at all costs.

What is a VPN?

A VPN is a Virtual Private Network, a method by which you can add privacy and security to private and public networks such as WiFi Hotspots and the Internet. While VPNs are most commonly used by corporations in an effort to protect sensitive company information against theft or compromise, more and more private citizens are relying on VPNs to protect their own projects and data against the prying eyes of a growing surveillance state.

how-vpn-protects-youIn a world in which cyber-attacks are becoming a daily threat, VPNs make it possible to retain protection and privacy. Mobile VPNs are now in use when roaming across various networks instead of a single IP address. This includes but is not limited to multiple Wi-Fi access points.

Why Do I Need a VPN?

In the age of online identity theft where we are being targeted by not only hackers but the companies behind our favorite electronic devices, it is imperative that we protect our our online identity and the data that goes along with it.

how-encryption-worksVPNs give you extra security from trolls, hackers and other scammers on the Web. Maybe you’re thinking, “Well, I’ve got a Firewall, I’m fine.” Kalokohan, my friend. Firewalls just protect the data on your computer and anti-virus programs just protect you from viruses. On the other hand, VPNs let you maintain security and privacy even after data has left your PC.

As time goes on, it’s going to become narrow-minded and stupid to NOT use a VPN. It’s common sense that your information should belong to you and shouldn’t be able to be stolen by third parties or sold to crooked companies (telemarketers, marketing research firms, et al.).

Are VPNs Safe To Use?

Absolutely. That’s what they’re designed for—to serve as a safeguard against your devices and data being compromised.

Can I Use a VPN on my Phone or Tablet?

Depending upon the service you use, you should be able to use your VPN across all devices. As with all VPNs, some are better for use with phones and tablets than others. Here we’ll take a quick look at some of the VPNs that are tailored to phones and tablets.

    VPNS for NetFlix

If you’re looking to stream NetFlix on a VPN, stay as far away from services like HideMyAss as you can. ExpressVPN, SaferVPN and NordVPN are all safe bets for NetFlix.

My Closing Thoughts

If you are active online, you should not be without a VPN. It is the simplest, easiest and cheapest way to make sure that your work and personal information remains untouched and secure.
